My uber driver to the airport was a private security contractor who carries three guns on him at a time (he was armed on the drive). He said if an unmarked sport-ute with a crew of masked men without easily proper identification came at him or his family, he's opening fire. The guy was an American-born citizen. I don't think any ICE team has gotten caught in a shoot-outs. I think that's pretty telling, in a country as well-armed as this one. It says the people they're going after have been the vulnerable and peaceful and unarmed. But if they continued to be this indiscriminate and secretive, they're playing with fire, and that's scary. And any escalation is going to work in favor of the propagandists.

Good point. Aggressive policing tactics often make situations more dangerous, even for police officers. I'm thinking of things like "no-knock" warrants where officers enter residences before announcing themselves. It's probably true that immigration authorities who aren't properly identifiable as such are putting themselves and others in unnecessary danger.
