In my first video post, I talk with my friend Brandon Del Pozo about the controversies surrounding the militarization of federal immigration law enforcement, the politics of the Trump administration, and the ethics of protests.
Brandon is an Assistant Professor at Brown University. He is the author of The Police and The State: Security, Social Cooperation, and the Public Good from Cambridge University Press. He has a Ph.D. in philosophy from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. He also has two master’s degrees, one in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and another in public administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School.
Brandon is also an experienced police officer. He spent nearly twenty years in the NYPD and was Chief of Police of the City of Burlington, Vermont. In addition to all that, he was an Infantry Officer in the Army National Guard.
He is a frequent public commentator, having published work in the New York Times, Washington Post, and New York Daily News, among many other places.
